Excellent Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions

June 13, 2019 by Wing DofE Officer

Twenty eight RAF Air Cadets from nine different Bristol and Gloucestershire Wing units completed their Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions in beautiful countryside in the Bath and North Somerset area.

Thirteen cadets completed their bronze award qualifying expeditions walking at least six hours a day for two days and camping overnight. One cadet completed a silver award qualifying expedition while eight others completed their silver practice expeditions walking for at least seven hours a day over three days with two nights under canvas. Six cadets completed bronze expedition training and are now ready for their qualifying ventures.

Wing Duke of Edinburgh Award Officer, Squadron Leader Claire Lesslie, said, “The cadets did really well and should be proud of their efforts. I hope they all complete their Awards soon.”

Squadron Leader Lesslie was assisted by a small team of assessors and supervisors who gave up their bank holiday weekend to support the cadets from 93 (City of Bath), 125 (Cheltenham), 186 (Newent), 649 (Dursley), 1446 (Clevedon), 1860 (East Bristol), 2328 (Bishop’s Cleeve), 2442 (Westbury-on-Trym) and 2467 (Nailsea) Squadrons. Well done to all cadets and many thanks to the supporting staff for providing the opportunity.
