75th Anniversary Dursley Challenge

January 28, 2016 by Wing Media Communication Officer

Some 100 RAF Air Cadets from thirteen units across Bristol and Gloucestershire Wing competed in a major adventure training exercise. The Dursley Challenge is a series of challenges along a six mile route that includes a number of the stiffest climbs in the Cotswold Hills. Eleven cadet teams competed for the Wing’s Kriegie Trophy while and another four took part in the CO’s competition where the CO had to be part of the team.

The Kriegie Trophy, presented to the Wing by the Bristol Former Prisoner’s Of War Association was won by 2124 (Bristol Airport) Squadron. Runners up were 2392 (Thornbury) Squadron followed by 649 (Dursley) Squadron. The CO’s Cup was won by 1329 (Stroud) Squadron. Runners up were 2152 (Downend) DF followed by 2328 (Bishops Cleeve) Squadron.

Thanks go to the twenty nine adult staff who volunteered on the day and in particular CI Neal Palmer from 649 Squadron who organised the event. This is the third running of the Dursley Challenge with each one getting bigger and better.
