Adventurous activities inspire RAF Air Cadets

August 23, 2018 by 2328 (Bishop's Cleeve) Squadron

Twenty seven cadets from Bristol and Gloucestershire Wing successfully completed a wide variety of activities during a week at the National Air Cadet Adventure Training Centre at Fairbourne in North Wales. Their programme included canoeing and kayaking on Lake Bala, mountain biking on single track trails, rock climbing and mountain walking including ascending Cadair Idris. The week literally finished on a high at a high ropes’ course at Betws y Coed.

The programme, brilliantly devised by the Wing Adventure Training Technical Officer and executed by her team of volunteer staff, successfully inspired the cadets. Many did things they didn’t think possible - whether paddling across a lake, abseiling down a cliff or climbing one of Britain’s top mountains. The cadets will now seek out similar opportunities and hopefully some may gain qualifications and become RAF Air Cadet adventure training instructors in the future.

Planning is already underway for the 2019 Wing Adventurous Training Camp.
