Amazing STEM Experience

March 30, 2019 by 2328 (Bishop's Cleeve) Squadron

Seven RAF Cadets from 2328 (Bishop’s Cleeve) Squadron and one cadet from 2392 (Thornbury) Squadron took part in an exciting range of activities at Welbeck College’s STEM camp, designed to promote STEM and Welbeck College as a Sixth Form option.

In a packed two days, the cadets completed a series of challenges from Indoor Clay Pigeon Shooting, Trim Trail, Orienteering, moving a Land Rover with a REME recovery vehicle, first aid senario, rock climbing and cyber organised by the Royal Air Force and Royal Corps of Signals.

The team came a credible fourth out of twenty teams and won the Rocket Car Challenge and will have their Squadron’s number and name on the tail fin of the Bloodhound Supersonic Car (SSC).

Flight Lieutenant Richard Jennings, Officer Commanding 2328 Squadron said, “The cadets were challenged mentally and physically. This was our first time entering and we were 4th missing out on 2nd by only 7 points. We are very much looking forward to STEM 2020 and I am hoping we can do even better.”
